I wanted to make a film that behaves more like a song than a screenplay. Every shot is a lyric. The sound design is the melody. The audience writes the story in the space between them. Instead of photographing the plot, the camera photographs the emotional residue it leaves behind. I've started calling the approach Emotional Displacement Cinematography, and this film was my first experiment with it.
