A young boy is lured into a pond by a strange creature and vanishes. His mother searches in vain, grows old, and one day a small creature is left on her doorstep. She raises it as her own—until it quietly possesses her. The house itself seems to feed on her; she’s consumed and transformed, giving rise to a fully grown “Baby.” Baby returns to the pond and submerges, revealing a closed loop: it becomes the same creature that first pulled the boy beneath the water. The story is a cyclical horror about grief, adoption, and how loss mutates into something that devours the home.
